" Arresting Non-Violent Teenagers "

Teenagers today are more mischievous, curious, violent and, down right disrespectful as opposed to a couple of years ago. The streets seem to unravel and unleash the demons in even the most timid quiet types. Some teenagers feel the need to commit crimes or inflict bodily harm on innocent people just to earn a name and place for themselves on the street. Some of those crimes include but, are not limited to chain snatching, pick pocketing, burglary, robbery, graffiti and, murder. Then there are the actual innocent teenagers who get caught up in the mix from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In my opinion, it should be mandatory for the police to contact a child's parent or guardian before slapping the cuffs on and, arresting them.

I've personally seen too many children under the age of sixteen being carted off without the parents being aware of the situation or being notified. In those cases, it just so happened that neighbors where present and, they were kind enough and, had the decency to contact the parent/parents. But, not all teenagers are lucky enough to have neighbors who recognize them. Those are the ones who will be taken to the police station scared and alone. Sometimes the teenagers have already been taken to the precinct before the parents were even aware of the situation. Of course, some of the incidents involved teenagers actually doing things they shouldn't have been doing. Then, there were times when the teenagers just happened to be passing through a situation in progress or the aftermath then, the police come and round up the whole lot, innocent included.

That's why, I feel the police should attempt to contact the parent or guardian in front of the child before arresting them especially, non-violent teens. Unless, there's a crime in progress or there is concrete evidence that the teenager is guilty.

" Profanity: The New Language "

Today's society has taken profanity to a whole new level as if its backbone has absolutely no merit. Why does it have to be used so often and, so forcefully? It's used in movies, plays, television shows, video games, right down to cartoons. Why does it seem like profanity is the only way to get your point across nowadays? There are so many words in thousands of dictionaries. Do you mean to tell me that there aren't any other words besides profanity that will be just as effective? Profanity seems to be glorified to the point that teenagers think it's actually COOL. Teenagers are spewing profanity like a fountain but, public school children are using it too so forcefully without actually knowing the meaning of the words they use.

CHILDREN ARE SO EASILY INFLUENCED by what they pick up from being around older children and adults who should be the ones setting a good example for all of our children. Then again, some households simply are unable to or, don't make the time to screen every program in the household to ensure that their children aren't listening to and watching such filth. There used to be a time when children respected their elders. But, some of today's youth have little or no respect for their elders at all. There are children whose age range between five thru ten who will curse you out as though they were grown. Actually, I feel all children are cute and adorable. But, a cute, adorable child with a foul mouth who spits out F and B words are no longer adorable nor cute but, seem extremely ugly while doing so. People today should strongly consider the long term consequences profanity can have on our youth.

WHAT CAUSES INSECURITIES IN RELATIONSHIPS?

Too many relationships are ruined because of insecurities and, not enough trust. There are people who actually love with their whole heart and, their entire being honestly. Those are the ones who will love, trust and, may even forgive you for little indiscretions. They love the whole idea of love and, being in love therefore, trying their best to make things work. Then,there are the ones who say they love you and, may actually love to a point but, just have trust issues. Sometimes, being unable to trust someone can come from past relationships or other happenings. But, it can also come purely from of their own guilt. I've seen too many couples who appear to be a match made in heaven on the surface, as the saying goes. But, underneath it all there's nothing but, accusations, disbelief, verbal, emotional and, sometimes physical abuse all because, of the insecurity of one person.

There are times whereas, one feels the overwhelming fear of losing their partner so, Dr. Jekyll rears his ugly head, so to speak. That's when the relationship takes a hard hit and, starts to head downhill. The most innocent people are constantly being accused of doing things they're not doing because, the partner is so insecure. But, what really puzzles me is when a person, male or female is the type who doesn't hang out, only go to the store and back and, stay home with the children all day, every day, what's to be insecure about? Where is the time in between to give your partner something to be insecure about? Sometimes, there are people who cheat on there partners like it's no big deal and, make you feel to blame for the insecurities in the relationship. That person may also have absolutely no problem lying to your face or, making you feel like you're the reason for them cheating. Yet, they will follow you to make sure you're not cheating, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

If people actually took the time to pay close attention to what's going on or, not going on in their relationships there'd be less need to be insecure. Also, guilt sometimes play a major part in the overall success or, lack there of in a relationship. People should learn to love, honor and, respect each other in order to maintain a happy, healthy relationship without insecurities.

IS IT OK TO HAVE YOUR EX AS A FRIEND?

Far too many people are under the impression that it's impossible to be friends with an ex. Well, I absolutely disagree with that. I'm not saying that everyone can do it but, it can be done. It all depends on the individuals and, the circumstances surrounding their past and current relationship. I met a boy in public school who became my boyfriend. We dated off and on throughout Public School and Junior High School. Though we broke up some where down the line, we still remained friends. Years later, in my adulthood we reconnected and, maintained a friendly physical only relationship while seeing other people but, never while either one of us were in a serious relationship.

This man and I would talk to each other about our trysts with other people as if we never dating at all because we always were and, still are friends. When he was on his way down the aisle, I was invited and went to the wedding. There have been times when his wife and I would chat on the phone or, hang out with no problem. We have also shared events with all of our children getting along just as we did as friends when we first met. Though we've spent many years having physical relations, that time has passed and, we no longer look at each other in that manner. As a matter of fact, we don't even joke about anything sexual, it just doesn't come up. Plus, we respect each other far too much to go that route. If you and your ex truly have an understanding, especially if you broke up on a mutual and agreeable note then, you can actually have a non-sexual friendly relationship with your ex. It can definitely be done.

To this day, a few of my exes and, I are like the best of friends. So, don't let people convince you that having your ex as a friend is impossible. Sometimes, it can actually be a blessing because, they may know things about you that can possibly help you out in the long run. Your ex has been with you so maybe, they're easy to talk to. Or, they may be a fantastic hang out buddy. Don't get me wrong sometimes, having your ex as a friend can be a total disaster. In some instances, an ex may feel as though you're forever theirs. Therefore, showing signs of possessive behavior at the mere mention of you being with someone else. Also, there's the chance of them causing unnecessary trouble between you and, your present partner should they run into you. It's a catch 22 having your ex as a friend.

Should Family Or Professionals Care For Elderly Patients?

 I think that the care of the elderly should be carefully considered depending on the situation and circumstances. If the person isn't deathly ill or, doesn't have special needs requiring around the clock medical attention then, they should be cared for by a family member. Of course, the family member should be someone who isn't always on the go, has multiple projects going on and, can devote quality time to that person.

 The caregiver should also be physically, mentally and, financially able to care for that person. Sure, the elderly may need their meals prepared, medication given to them and maybe even bathed but, if you're able and, you love them that shouldn't be a problem. Now, if the elderly has medical issues that require constant medical attention then, by all means they should be cared for by medical professionals.

 That's not to say that, just because they're professionals that you should throw your elderly family member in there so that you don't have to burden yourself because, that would be wrong and, it's thoughtless and selfish. But, if it should come to the point whereas, you consider putting elderly family members in a nursing home you should definitely research various places before doing so.

 There have been one to many cases on the news about mistreated patients at nursing homes. Then again, the decision between the two should also be discussed in detail with the elderly family member.

Having gone through two situations where living together proved to be the best choice, I'd have to say definitely YES. By living together, you can learn a lot about a person before being bound by marriage. Should you decide to live together first, you could possibly avoid a long term relationship with someone who has what I call the " JEKYLL & HYDE SYNDROME".

Although, living together first nor, marriage is ever a guarantee. Learning ones habits and mannerisms before tying the knot can save you a world of headaches and, heartache down the road. Once you walk down the aisle and, say your " I DO'S ", it can be harder to get out of a relationship which is sometimes, physically, emotionally and or, verbally abusive which can be detrimental to you health.

A lot of grown-ups now and, back in the day believe that, living together before marriage is a sin. But, I think that peoples outlook on that has changed tremendously and, It is no longer frowned upon as much as it used to be. Although, older some folks still believe that you should just go ahead and, tie the knot. I guess, they strongly believe in, " Till Death Do Us Part " and, whatever happens within the marriage should be dealt with and, worked out. Plus, to the older folks, divorce is totally out of the question so, I would definitely live together before getting married.
